thi- this is your FIRST digital artwork? Whoa, I'm blown away! This is both haunting and enchanting. The shading is extremely impressive and you NAILED the aesthetic. I like the smokey feel, and yet the central figure still holds her solidity really well. I'd love to see a little color in the background personally, but what you've got here is fantastic, keep it up! Your second is sure to be amazing :P

Thank you so much for featuring me Jazza! Really means a lot to me. I posted more of my art on newgrounds if you want to check it out, only if you have time though, your a busy boy! Thank you again, much appreciated.

I'm very impressed! Your attention to detail, and expression in the characters is pulled of really well! You have a strong understanding of shape and what makes a strong pose, and there's a lot to look at and enjoy in this picture, which I gotta say compliments the feeling of a MOBA in general (I'm a bit of a DOTA 2 fan myself hehe). The background is strong, but you're right, there's a slight clash between the central characters and the environment. I'd recommend using a more painted feel with the background, with less solid lines, or as least lines that match the color of the organic object they're framing (IE grey lines around rocks, green lines around grass etc). That way this solid linework framing your characters will stand out more, and the background will feel more cohesive in itself. Great work, very impressive! :)

SenselessSquirrel responds:

first off, thanks for taking the time! I personally dont play Dota2 all that much since Im used to all the small things in LoL^^ but I will surely try the painted background on my next "bigger" picture, thank you for the tip :)

I like this, the glow looks badass, and the shading of the skin against the strong linework stands out really well. It feels like its framed a little 'off', like the camera should be pointed down slightly to show the bottom of his chest, and less empty space above his head, but overall youve done a good job! Keep it up! :)

HAha! this is so sadistic and funny, very well done. The idea itself is clever, and your use of color and shading is strong. I can tell you focused quite a bit on making sure the light shining down on the operating table cast accurate shadows and was represented well in the shading. The surgeon looks like in proportion to CatDog could be a little bigger, and the background could probably stand to be a bit darker, to enhance the 'bright' look of the light on the operation table. Overall a funny and well executed piece, good job!

I LOOK SO BADASS! This is cool, it reminds me ot the style from the original scott pilgrim comics, which you should take as a compliment. Your layering of colors is really good, and the character himself (myself?) is cute and fun. I love it, awesome work! And thank you :)

This is cool! I feel like the linework could benefit from some pressure sensitivity, since its the same thickness all-round, did you use a mouse or tablet? Otherwise your character work and use of color is solid! I'd love to see it in an environment or with some other characters, but for a drawing exercise this is quite good, keep it up!

SweetDave responds:

I don't have a tablet. Well not yet.

Nice contrast between the yellow and red colors - the linework could stand to be more refined, and i feel like the lady should be emitting some kind of glow or something, but overall this is nice to look at and captures the eye very easily, good work!

ShroudedAnims responds:

Thank you!

Nice work, I can see you're fairly new to the unpredictability of the flash brush tool, don't worry, it comes with practice, but your understanding of shape here is really good. I look forward to seeing more, keep it up! :)

I'm pretty jealous of your talent! Your lines are extremely crisp, your colors are like looking at candy, and the form and figure of the woman is very enticing and well executed. I love your other work as well. I'll try and scout you to be on the art portal (hope it works) coz you've definitely got the chops - hell, I could stand to get a few lessons from you on female anatomy ;) great work :)

Mackie85 responds:

Thank you for your kind words, Jazza. I really appreciate that you love my work and that you could pass word along to have me scouted.

I also find your videos on youtube to be very helpful, too!

Cheers.

For your first piece of art using your tablet and painting in Photoshop, this is very impressive! (not to mention ambitious!). I must confess that I too am a fan of the blizzard style of art. I have a few of their art books for some of their games. Anyhow, your use of color here is very well executed. I was particularly impressed with your attention to detail in things like how the skin has shadow show from where the clothing is against it. The saturation of colors is great too. I'd suggest adding some patterns on the clothing to break up the flatter areas a bit, but overall you should be very proud of this :)

Axonn94 responds:

Thanks Jazza, much appreciated :) Other people found many mistakes when I asked them about opinion but it just looks good enough for me :P Thanks for your feedback.
