Very very very impressive! There is an astounding amount of detail here! I love the bright colors, and how you haven't neglected the background at all, in fact thats where most of the details are! I love the way the light shines down from the top of the image, and how the organic parts of the scene (like the moss) have a softer, more 'painted' feel. The tail of the mermaid feels a liiiitle bit unnatural, like it's popping out of her back or something, but thats the only thing I could say to improve on, and thats looking hard for something, because there's so much to be impressed by in this piece, incredible work. Keep it up, and thanks for sharing!

Jazza ** Thanks a lot for this comment! I didn't think you'll answer so fast :p
Yah, I know the prospective of the tail is a little exceeding, but I'm happy that you like the bg! I worked very hard on it! Thanks again! <3

I like this! the way you painted the image makes i feel like its a watercolor painting. Its clear you've paid a lot of attention to the composition. I feel like the hand is almost lost though, like its color is too similar to the curtains behind it. The central figure, the girl, is very nice though, and invokes a strong aesthetic of emotion. Good work, keep it up! And thanks for sharing :)

tnx from your criticism :)

I've gotta be honest, this is one of my favorite pictures shared with me so far (I've had around 60+ sent, and counting). It executes what its trying to execute, SO well. like, near perfect. It holds its ambiance with a great intensity, but with such incredible aesthetic that it feels almost effortless. This is the kind pf painting that I'd love as a HD desktop background as well, hehe. Anyhow, as an environment it feels like its yearning to be a story to be told, and it helps my opinion that red is my favorite color ;) REALLY great work. Keep it up, and thanks for sharing!

Oh crap you replied! I must have notifications switched off somewhere because I never catch these.

Anyway thanks for your words I honestly wasn't expecting that so... yeah, thanks. :)

Really enjoyed the first show by the way.

I like these character designs, they're strong and unique! The linework and shading feels a bit rough, but i'll assume that's because the image was scanned in then painted after, which can be tricky to pull off. The background could use some attention too. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing! :)

Nice work! Her skin tone and the overall coloring is really nice. The background in particular work really well, its simple, and it feels like theres a big scene behind her, but its hidden behind the rain and the fact that the focus is on her. Its done really well. I'd watch your proportions a little, her torso feels like it starts a little too 'low' on the body, and comes forward a liiiitle bit too much, but otherwise you've got a strong piece of art here, keep it up! And thanks for sharing :)

Is this a traditional piece of art, or is it digital? Either way, Its great! I love the sepia tone on the old paper texture, it looks really charming. Her skin looks elegant, and her eyes are particularly well drawn and expressive, keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing!

This is very impressive! You draw cloth particularly well, and the character has great features and expression! I'd be careful with your proportions, her left arm tapers off to become a little too small, and her right arm holding the spell looks like its held in a slightly uncomfortable position, but otherwise youve done great, and have some very impressive skills with digital painting! Keep up the great work!

MissLace responds:

Thank you for your input. I've been trying to practice my foreshortening, but i never thought about the spell casting arm. If you happen to have any advice on making more natural poses? Thanks in advance, and I'm glad you like my work! :)

Wow, the characters look fantastic! Seriously, I'm WAY too impressed with your ability to draw/color hair. Her hair looks SO GOOD. and your attention to detail is great. I'd only say your background could use a lot of work since its nowhere near as strong as your character work, but hey, I feel the pain of that one, I'm no good at backgrounds and its hard for me to motivate myself to paint a background after I spend to long on a character. Anyhow, awesome work, I love the soft painted flowing style! Keep it up! And welcome to Newgrounds :)

I love how in images like this, its the way simple things come together to create something really really nice to look at! The central figure has a strong silhouette, solid anatomy, and good use of colors. On top of that, the simple purple 'cloudy' background creates a lovely simple frame for him, and the blue glowing overlay communicates a sense of bursting power in a very effective manner! I'm very impressed, this feels like it should be on the cover of a comic book. Keep it up!

quite a haunting figure, I don't know why, perhaps he looks ghostly, as being so white on top of that grey background. Anyhow, your linework is fairly strong, but the proportions are a little off. Don't worry, it comes with practice and time! Keep at it and you'll get there. Keep it up! :)

SinSpade responds:

Thanks, yeah i will work on the proportions.
