i think that it's great that you're choosing your own path for religion. I'm some what of a catholic, and let me say it is a screwed up religion. some catholics are pretty crazy with Quran burnings and Apocolypse fortellings. I say that the whole idea of religion is kind of stupid. although it has some good qualities it also starts up racism and there are all sorts of wars over it. I just say screw religon, it's way more trouble than it's worth.

Well I personally dont think is wrong nor right to be an atheist, In fact there is nothing wrong nor right about believing in a deity. To me religion is something most people need in order to find a reason to have a "good life" sad part is about 80% this people usually take it too seriously bashing on all other points of views and sometimes doing horrible things under a shield called"defending your faith".
I myself am a chirstian and the only reason I am is because I believe jesus do existed, that said I HAVE alot of problems with many cultural aspects of my religion AKA (why is the vatican the richest state in the world), how most people think that by confessing ur sins to a priest is gonna solve it all, thats not true, redemption is something you earn through ur actions and by changing your way of thinking, acting and living, not by gossiping your misdeeds.
In Conclusion no religion is perfect and I doubt we are finding an absolute truth annytime soon, and do I believe there is a person who "represents" god on Earth (any god not just the christian one)? No I dont and I doubt we ll be seeing that. But do I believe a superior abstract being created the order of the Universe under VERY specifics law of Physics and favors acting fair? Well I sure as hell hope so, there is plenty of evidence to actually believe that
I'd have to say, I salute you. I do believe in a higher being, but am disgusted by the policies of the church and how they act like they know everything God wants when no one knows him on a personal level and lately I have seen a few instances where a criminal would convert and they would welcome him in open arms but then they would shun anyone who doesn't share their belief. It's pretty dispicable and hypocritical. Not to mention not everyone in the church is as clean as they pretend to be.
exactly. I hate the idea that someone who lies, cheats, steals and hurts people who believes in jesus has their sins washed away and goes to some magical place after they die, and a non-believer who lives a good life because of personal ethical and moral descisions burns in hell because they don't subscribe to certain dogma.

Well, I like your opinion. I'm a protestant, but I don't hate on athiests. Not to be pushy, but how do actual miracles happen? It's not like I believe that christian videos portraying miracles are staged, but I've seen real miracles happen right in front of me. If you don't believe in heaven nor hell, where do you go? Its just the fact of thought. Where could all of this have happened? Think outside the box of common logic and think! How are we formed? How are we made to think, and in reality, able to have a choice, whether to believe or not to. If everyone thought that God doesn't exist, then we won't have a choice to believe in. But you see, where do we get the ability to believe? What drives us, as human beings to believe in, whether it's science or God, to Allah to nothing at all. I like your opinion, it shows that one fact that people are most willing to believe what they want to. But a question is by what force makes us believe anything at all? I most definitely don't know the true answer.
think outside of common logic? that's not the safest thing, and faith cultivates extremist behaviour much more then logic does. Just because something is mysterious and perceived as a miracle does not mean it can not be explained. The earth was once thought to be flat, and the sun, revolving around the earth, but with time and patience we learned the answers, and i believe there are perfectly reasonable explanations as to how miracles occur without subscribing to the default 'magic' stance.
i'm just moving away from a predefined perception being given to me as a way to see the world, which is exactly what religion is.
Im kind of suprised by this. I mean when you came over i was like, itll only be a matter of time before i butt heads (lol i said butt) with him about religion. I guess im trendy and agnostic right now... but mostly indifferent. I have enough problems and things to do in my life right now, i dont really have time to invest in to think about how the world was made or who made it, if anyone. Even if it was someone, id still not have time to really dwell on it. Same with death / heaven / hell whatever really.

I would never believe in a deity that cannot love all of its creations. Personally, I am an agnostic/atheist/nihilist as well (People call em different, but they are pretty much the same). Even if you were a 100% bible thumper, you're still an awesome person, and you still make awesome stories.
