I cannot beat Battle for Wayland Keep. I have tried again and again, but I cannot beat week 9. I still want to see the story though. Can I read the story despite my lackluster gaming skills?
it's beatable, pause a lot, set up your next move a lot, and use the ability effects like stuns on siege weapons, and large area attacks timed well

Happens on any week #.
If I first stun some enemies (with ability #3), and then line-damage them with ability #2, then they will be static (not moving) while playing their walking animation. After some time (perhaps, after the stun effect wears off) enemies are working properly again.
Happens with any enemy type.
I will comment here in case if I find more glitches.
Based on what you described, sounds somewhat like Dragon Age. I like. :)

no, also BWK uses a kind of hive mind system where ortus will be more concentrated and cool
