Nov. 1, 2007 | 10:54 AM MrFinland says:

Yea I'm kind of a NG announcer here. When awesome stuff comes I am the first one to tell. I should probably tell people about Paladin the series so they can get a quick catch up on it. THen again the plot of the game would be a surprise so I am in a puzzle here.

Nov. 1, 2007 | 6:38 PM JAZZA responds:

yeah i gotta admit the plot of the game wont suprise people, but there are a few treats, enemies not seen in the series, a boss not seen ever before, and ofcourse things will be done differently to the animation, as the end, you wont win by giving the other dude your sword so he hurts himself, lol. it'll be like playing the story i was too tired to animate!!

Nov. 1, 2007 | 3:23 PM Splurda says:

JesusJazza! *squeal*

Nov. 1, 2007 | 6:38 PM JAZZA responds:

Nov. 2, 2007 | 12:51 AM MrFinland says:

So I'll try to get people watch the series today, if I got any spare time. I can recommend lots of people, since I was the one who introduced the Portal the Flash Version which became a huge hit with some people.

Nov. 2, 2007 | 6:59 AM JAZZA responds:

haha awesome sounds good :)

Nov. 2, 2007 | 5:59 PM SimCorder says:

oh my god..... If the Paladin movie was God like, I can't imagine how good the actual game is gonna be. Also... YOUR SERIES (plus the composer) RULES!!!!

Nov. 2, 2007 | 6:22 PM JAZZA responds:

You really need to release a demo sometime!

If you ever....EVER need a Beta Tester....I will gladly lean a hand.... =)

Nov. 4, 2007 | 2:43 AM JAZZA responds:

haha if i ever need beta testers it will be very secretive and prolly restricted to my forum mods haha, im paranoid of leaks u know, getting stuff stolen :P

Nov. 4, 2007 | 6:51 AM Splurda says:

Nov. 4, 2007 | 6:52 AM Splurda says:

*your game not waterlollies

Nov. 4, 2007 | 3:39 PM Splurda says:

how many acts will there be, and how far through the game are you?

Nov. 4, 2007 | 5:52 PM JAZZA responds:

there will be around 9 acts, we're up to 4, but with main chunks of the coding done its just a matter of slight alterations with the other levels and how theyre set up...

Nov. 5, 2007 | 12:03 PM Splurda says:

awesome, so more than halfway done altogether then?

Nov. 5, 2007 | 4:44 PM JAZZA responds:

uuh yes i would say so. been workin on it a month and have a month or so to go

Nov. 5, 2007 | 4:17 PM KupaMan says:

I'm annoyed that the HUD is almost identical to Diablo II's, but the game looks interesting and well-made regardless.

Nov. 5, 2007 | 4:46 PM JAZZA responds:

i knew that making the interface like that would bring some criticism but, ive always loved how the health and mana is set up in diablo, its easiest to understand and most aesthetically pleasing in my eyes.

personally i think, if it aint broke, dont fix it!

Nov. 5, 2007 | 4:24 PM BoMToons says:

That's a lot of crosses for a Mormon boy. ;)

Looking awesome! I can't wait to see the full deal.

Nov. 5, 2007 | 4:47 PM JAZZA responds:

lol i know im naughty. lol.

nah but i do it coz its the indicator of his religious standard as a paladin. also whos to say he's not catholic or seomething, i mean, you see the preist at the start. lol.

Nov. 5, 2007 | 5:47 PM Anigen says:

hello

i would like to say that after reading your reply to my post on that journal about your deviantart, i am very glad. i think i may have overreacted to notorious's defense a bit, but thanks for being cool about it

love,

anigen

wait what

Nov. 5, 2007 | 8:47 PM JAZZA responds:

haha no problem
everyone makes mistakes, i made one. over now

hope you love the game when it comes out!

Nov. 5, 2007 | 9:52 PM AlkaSeltzer says:

That looks amazing. Awesome job.

Nov. 5, 2007 | 11:41 PM JAZZA responds:

thank you very much, its really appreciated :)

Nov. 6, 2007 | 7:51 AM The-EXP says:

Looking good Jazza, the quality seems sky high.

Nov. 6, 2007 | 5:47 PM JAZZA responds:

thanx dude. yeah thats good and bad (coz of lag) so we have to set default quality to low, but it really doesnt make that much of a difference haha

Nov. 6, 2007 | 11:28 AM The-Swain says:

It looks so traditional that I love it. Games went from 2D to 3D almost all at once, but when that happened, development of 2D conventions kind of petered out. I'm crossing my fingers that it's got that extra something, because I'm now really looking forward to playing it.

Good job, buddy!

Nov. 6, 2007 | 5:49 PM JAZZA responds:

thanks a bunch swain
(that almost sounded like an insult.... like... swine? nah... lol)

anyhow yeah, ive been really aiming to get this as fast gameplay with ability to use lots of strategy to maintain health. all bosses need the player to have maxed out health potions, (3)

Nov. 6, 2007 | 11:49 AM Glaiel-Gamer says:

looks pretty cool.

In the beginning, you had a 3Dish effect on the wall, but later in the game the 3D effect was gone? Is this just a result of taping different builds of the game or something else...

Who's coding it?

Nov. 6, 2007 | 5:51 PM JAZZA responds:

the first 3d effect was easily doable so i did it, but i couldnt on the later wall because if you notice both before and after you enter the other side of the wall is darker and moodier. with a 3D effect that would not be possible and it was more important to have the mood in that room...

moonkey is coding it, he is doing an absolutely INCREDIBLE job

Nov. 6, 2007 | 1:04 PM Pandora-Productions says:

...
...man that game...
...i fucking envy you...
on a lighter note ZOMG! DIABLO HUD!
and its that a experience bar? OH GOD SAY YES
(by "god" I'm not refferring to you jazza, but you are on your way)

Nov. 6, 2007 | 5:55 PM JAZZA responds:

hahah im so glad youre excited for this one. really gives me motivation to keep workin when people look foreward to something as much as i do

aaaand YES! it IS an experience bar. i probably should have shown the stats menu, coz every time you level, you gain 3 stat points to use, either on character stats (IE strength, speed, health etc) or spell stats, making your magic stronger...

you really need to invest stats wisely to beat the later bosses. at the end of the game theres 3 bosses in a row, then half a level, then the FINAL BOSS

Nov. 6, 2007 | 5:03 PM Alex-Uzi says:

The Paladin series RULES!!! and so as you! can't wait for the game to show up! Keep up the good work, Jazza! ;)

Nov. 6, 2007 | 6:02 PM JAZZA responds:

haha thank you

paladin series doesnt rule as much as i would like it to, simply because when i started it was not ambitious enough to go out of my way to push plot or involve mor characters. because of that i am stuck making a game with required plotholes to fit in with the series, for example, after he gets the sword he gets blue hair and black clothes...

I DONT KNOW WHY I DID THAT in the end of episode 1. later in ep 3 i explained the hair by showing that those who absorb too much power of a diety begin to look a lot like them, explaining aurons blue hair when he holds the gods power within the sword, and the oldness and the eyemarks on radiel, as well as the white hair...

anyhow... i never explained the black clothed in short and im stuck with that. guess its no big deal but still...

Nov. 6, 2007 | 7:53 PM Zwickel says:

Hey man, I'm a flash regular (kinda) too, it'd be cool to talk with you, do you have msn or aim? Mine are: msn: zwickelstudios@hotmail.com and ZwickelNG for AIM.

Hope to talk to you soon, nice game here!

Nov. 7, 2007 | 2:39 AM JAZZA responds:

hey dude

Nov. 6, 2007 | 7:56 PM 14hourlunchbreak says:

I saw the teaser and I CAN'T WAIT! Gaaaa! It's looked so cool! It will be a great addition to the Paladin series. I have a question though. What are you going to do with the Paladin series after this? Is there going to be a sequel? Is he going to have a son who takes on the family name? These are the questions I ask you! I love the Paladin series but it would be a pity for it to just END all of a sudden. Well maybe this game WILL be a good way to finish the series. I'm going to ponder on this for a while. But all in all the game teaser looks fantastic....just purely AMAZING! Gaaa!

Nov. 7, 2007 | 3:29 AM JAZZA responds:

the paladin series is not finished, that is the plot has much more to come, but it will not be based on auron. it wont be made for a while either, but it will be based in the reformed world after auron saves it, with new oppositions and lots more characters then the paladin series had... haha glad you look foreward to it :)

Nov. 6, 2007 | 9:03 PM KupaMan says:

"personally i think, if it aint broke, dont fix it!"

I agree, but this isn't Diablo 3. The idea of a franchise being consistent versus someone else copying the good ideas is something I don't agree with. The system is practically anyone's because it's so common, but the two orbs of health and mana opposite one another with identical ability squares inbetween isn't just similar; it's the same. I think you should revisualize it before you release the game, otherwise you'll get a lot of negative feedback.

Nov. 7, 2007 | 3:33 AM JAZZA responds:

ok, if people hate the game pased on two health orbs then they aren't into games for the right reasons. ive tried in the concept design period i used, to visualize and draw up around 20 different health/statbar systems. NOTHING looks good ,and simple. a quare bar looks CRAPOLA, and the symetry of the orbs really keeps things aesthetically pleasing. as for the middle between them telling me having square icons to diplay visually what spells are and do is NOT copying. it has been around from the begining of gaming, go look at doom and warcraft for crying out loud. im not going out of my way to make DIABLO, im going out of my way to maky my game follow my plot in the best possible way with the best visual impact and least distractions...

Nov. 6, 2007 | 9:32 PM MAJORA64 says:

I'm really looking forward to this. Good job!

Nov. 7, 2007 | 3:33 AM JAZZA responds:

thank you very much :D

Nov. 6, 2007 | 10:10 PM CursedSeishi says:

Wow, I definately gotta say this looks freakin amazing for it being done on flash, the health and mana/magic spheres remind me of when I played Diablo 1 and 2 which is a good thing to me cause that was always easier to look at than a bar or numbers lol. Even the buttons seem to take a hint from Diablo with there design. Once again, it's amazing what you and the programmer are doing with flash, definately will be waiting for this to come out!

Nov. 7, 2007 | 3:35 AM JAZZA responds:

so glad to hear it, i cant wait to share it with everyone. anyhow, i EXPECT to get a lot of flaming from people coz of the healthbar system but i just hope they understand my intentions. rather then retying them i will refer you to my response to Kupaman 3 comments above, lol...

Nov. 7, 2007 | 2:15 PM Zenaki says:

Jazza your so good at this stuff, I mean considering your videos are usually one man it's amazing! Can't wait for the game!

Nov. 7, 2007 | 6:07 PM JAZZA responds:

thanks a bunch dude i really appreciate it :)

Updated: Nov. 7, 2007, 6:07 PM

Nov. 7, 2007 | 9:48 PM DiscoFever says:

This game reminds me of an old game called Nox, it had the same looking skill bar, health and mana meters, potions scheme, but it was a top down view and had 3 classes. Besides that looks like a pretty unique game and one that i hope to see some time soon.

Nov. 7, 2007 | 9:53 PM JAZZA responds:

thank you very much
and you barely have a month to wait. i expect release should be around the 14th of december

Nov. 8, 2007 | 12:06 AM KupaMan says:

"rather then retying them i will refer you to my response to Kupaman 3 comments above, lol..."

Hey now, this here is my third. Take that Mr. Jazza!

Nov. 11, 2007 | 4:14 AM JAZZA responds:

lol...

its taken

Nov. 8, 2007 | 6:10 AM stojkovski says:

Wow...wow...wow...

Dude, if I could right now, I'd give you a hug....

...this looks epic, I'm gonna enjoy playing it.

But ofcourse you'd make a game, that's how a series would end. You've started one thing and made it in a unique way, but that's all in the series? No more animations? I'd say, continue with the series, start a new journey, new enemy, new obstacles, etc...

Ofcourse, bring back a few classics like the crow or mega-zombeh...

'nuff said.

Nov. 11, 2007 | 4:19 AM JAZZA responds:

sure you can give me a hug.... :D
lol, also, EVERYTHING in the series is in the game in one way or another, and more surprises included. so yes, melahn and mega zombeh etc

Nov. 8, 2007 | 7:43 AM JonBro says:

Woooooooah.

I have to play this.

Nov. 11, 2007 | 4:20 AM JAZZA responds:

im glad!

Nov. 8, 2007 | 7:53 AM Necro-Lancer says:

Releasing in December? Why that's just in time for my birthday! It's the twenty-secondth, because I know you don't (know).........

Nov. 11, 2007 | 4:20 AM JAZZA responds:

i'll get a cameo for ya, the preist saying 'happy birthday necro-lancer'... ok mabe not :P

Nov. 8, 2007 | 10:36 AM Krazy-Rex says:

Its great that you are making the paladin game. I have watched the whole series. But you ended it in a random way. It was like you got tired or wanted to finish it fast or something like that.Well I would love to play the game. Can you give me some advice. I am going to animate soon and I have learned some little basics of flash. Can you tell me how to start my first animation. I mean like sprites , stick or fully drawn. I have noticed that most of the awesome flash authors in NG who has been for so long here has made flashes using sprites and sticks like tom fulp and you. Awesome game and please reply to my comment

Nov. 11, 2007 | 4:23 AM JAZZA responds:

yeah i actually agree that it ended to fast. in the script it seemed longer :P. anyhow, im glad im making the game because it gives me a little chance of retribution, to re define and evaluate certain plotholes, and add a richer detail to the world of paladin

Nov. 10, 2007 | 12:19 AM Mobstarr says:

Sweet series... Looking forward to play the game, KEEP IT UP!!

Nov. 11, 2007 | 4:23 AM JAZZA responds:

i shall good sir, and thank you

Nov. 10, 2007 | 1:27 AM MrFinland says:

So far people seem to be interested, maybe because I actually wasted the time to do a school project just to show it to others. Maybe they think it has to be good because I sacrificed my project for it lol :D

Nov. 11, 2007 | 4:23 AM JAZZA responds:

hahaha thanks for the sacrifice, i hope you enjoy the game in december

Nov. 10, 2007 | 2:53 AM Matt-Porter says:

Damn that looks nice. I was skeptical for a bit, but once he came out looking all different after he got the sword things started picking up. The gameplay looked nice, I saw you switching spells with ease at the bottom and the menu was easy to read, It's gonna be a great game and I'm greatly looking forward to it. Tell the programmer I said he did a great job, we (programmers) don't get to hear it enough :P

Nov. 11, 2007 | 4:26 AM JAZZA responds:

yeah fo sure, the programmer will be the hugest 'thanx' in the authors comments, it would really be impossible without him, he's got some really hard work just coz im so pushy and picky, haha. and yeah, he's made the spells selectable with mouse wheel, and numbers for people who dont have a mouse wheel. i find it really fluid to play.

oh and props to him, the flight system is looking pro. yes... flight system :D

Nov. 11, 2007 | 7:18 AM MrFinland says:

I probably will enjoy it, but there will be a problem, since I am getting some good games on December, like Metal Gear Solid 3 and Manhunt 2 so I will be in bit of a trouble for time there.

Nov. 11, 2007 | 5:27 PM JAZZA responds:

ah well, just hope you fine it on your browsing times lol

Nov. 12, 2007 | 11:14 AM MrFinland says:

Yea I'll fit it in my special NG time, when I have no disturbances allowed and lock the door. Oh yeah I am supposed to ask your permission, but do you approve of it if I copy your music to a cd so I can listen to it with my stereos. I could get so better sound quality than with these computer speakers. I still have oldschool speakers, which have really shit quality. But yeah I would like to have your stuff as background music for schoolwork, and games and stuff like that. Imagine playing Resident Evil 4 with Stranded on the background

Nov. 13, 2007 | 5:08 AM JAZZA responds:

feel free to burn any of my audia, as long as you dont use it to make money or claim it as your own

enjoy!

Nov. 13, 2007 | 11:52 AM MrFinland says:

Thanks and just to make a notice, if I would say I made it people would call me a liar because I suck at making music. So thanks one more time.

Nov. 19, 2007 | 6:11 AM Havayosunu says:

interface looks similar to Dablo's, I mean not very original. besides this little flaw, game looks great! Graphics, music, effort... Totally awsome! Kudos :)
